This is my 1969 Peru green Beetle built in June 1969. It was sold new to my grandmother's cousin. The car was on display in the showroom at Wasson Volkswagen, once located in Cross Keys (near Abbottstown), Pennsylvania. It was out utfitted with all of the chrome trim, hood scoop, and interior items you see pictured. It was driven daily, until 1989 when they decided it was time to retire the car.

My relatives were avid automobile collectors and kept the car as part of their awesome collection of antique vehicles. Partially covered up with newspaper and bedsheets and with a big box of mothballs in the back seat, it sat in a barn for 11 years from April 1989 to November 2000. Just before he passed away, Mr. D. remembered my interest in the car when I was younger. I was fortunate enough to become its second owner.

This car is in surprisingly great shape. The off-white interior is beautiful. Good thing it came with dealer-equipped seat covers at one time! The only parts needing attention were the tires, shocks, brake system, shocktowers, framehead, and the wheel wells. The 1500 single port engine is still going strong, and some sections of the body have been repainted for reasons unknown. I made a promise to Mrs. D. that this car would not be "cut up". I now have the car registered as an antique/historic car in Pennsylvania. Eventually I'm looking to restore it. For fun during the holidays, I decorate it with Xmas lights for the neighborhood! Thank You to everyone who helped me get this car back on the road!
